Friendship Is Tested in Sports

Good traditions are never in short supply. That is why the next CMK Friends' Race was held in Stupino again. The sports festival has already become one of the brightest sporting events in the city. The event was held in the format of fun starts on the initiative of Stupino Metallurgical Company and traditionally gathered a large number of teams - representatives of Stupino enterprises, institutions, specialized secondary and higher educational institutions, athletes and young people. This year was no exception: more than a hundred participants - ten teams, three of which represented CMK - gathered in the hall of "Oka" sports and fitness center. Despite the fact that this type of competition in Stupino is relatively young - "Race of Friends" is held for the fourth time - but has already gained great popularity. By the way, the competition program has changed this year - new tests were added. In total, the participants were offered to pass five stages. The first was big hockey. And the word "big" was used in the name of the test for a reason. The teams had to carry the same large ball along the course with the help of a truly huge club. For the first time in the history of the city competitions, a new obstacle course was presented. Participants had to overcome a tunnel, poles, two slides, arches and bridges - and all this in a balancing inflatable structure, which made the athletes' task more difficult. The distance of the lane was twenty meters. Not without the traditional relay race in big boots and paired pants. Then the teams were offered to go through the obstacle course again, but in the opposite direction.

Mikhail Aleksandrovich Kakovin, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Council of CMK, notes:

- We prepared twenty kilograms of medals and a winner's cup for the participants of the competition. I should note that a huge number of families, relatives and friends came to support the teams. The team of CMK fans, equipped with the company's flags, banners and posters, stood out in this respect. Such support certainly helped our teams a lot.

In the final - fifth - stage, the teams got on their skis, even though the opening of the winter season was still two months away. This did not prevent the participants from passing the team test. First the girls covered the distance, then the young men. According to the organizers, this test turned out to be one of the participants' favorites.

Finally, it was time to summarize the results. The festival had two finals: a bronze and a gold one, which resulted in the four winners of the CMK Friends' Race. They were the team of the technical school named after A.T. Tumanov "Fogs", the second place went to the sports community StupinoSkiRun, the third - to the team of the Palace of Culture "Molniya", the fourth - to "Way to the top" (CMK). Then the teams "Captain" (Bobrov Sports School of Olympic Reserve), "Pioneers of Aviation" (SMPS), "Friendship" (CMK), "Youth of Stupino" (team of youth work institutions), "Wolves of Odin" (SMPS) and "Star Troopers" (CMK). All participants of the "Race of Friends" received commemorative medals, refueled with pizza, and the winners were awarded a trophy. The celebration ended with a fireworks display in the form of cold fire fountains.
