Enhancing Quality Indicators

Quality is a fundamental dimension of any production, and special attention is paid to it when manufacturing products for critical purposes, such as aircraft engine turbines, pumping devices, and ship engines. There can be no "misfires" here, as safety, proper functioning of machines, life and health of people depend on it.

At CMK, quality issues are given great importance in the global sense: on a daily basis, the Company's specialists, headed by Victor Kalugin, Quality Director, work continuously to improve these indicators.

Every year in November the World Quality Day, established in 1989, is celebrated, various events are held, the main purpose of which is to promote and demonstrate the benefits and importance of quality for competitiveness, attracting the attention of personnel to quality issues.

On this day, CMK honors employees who have made a significant contribution to achieving the best quality performance. In 2023, 55 employees from various CMK divisions were honored, including not only employees who ensured zero defects in production, but also those who showed an appropriate attitude to work, to the team, who strive to continuously improve their qualifications.

As practice shows, experience is not always the most important factor when it comes to quality. The main indicators here are strict compliance with the requirements specified by regulations and striving to improve the characteristics of their work. Thus, Elena Makarova, Quality Engineer of Shop No. 001, has been working at CMK since July 17 of this year, but she has already managed to prove herself as one of the main "fighters" of the shop for quality.

- The award was a complete surprise for me," admits Elena Makarova. - I think the whole team of our shop deserved it. Everyone is ready to help, to give advice, to share their skills and experience. Everyone works hard for the result. For me, such an event became an additional incentive for further intensive maintenance and improvement of quality indicators of my labor and the shop as a whole.

Such specialists as Elena Makarova are not rare in the metallurgists' team. Employees of other divisions of the Company were also awarded on Quality Day. Leading engineer of shop No. 001 M. Zavgorodnaya, leading engineer of shop No. 001 A. Zverkov, grinding and sorting machine operator of shop No. 002 V. Izotov, charge maker Y. Urvantsev, senior foreman of the powder production section of Shop No. 40 M. Sudienkov, production engineer of Shop No. 40 I. Meltser, foreman of the mechanical stamping section of Shop No.210 D. Smirnov, turner of Shop No.210 P. Shein, senior production foreman for manufacturing and repair of spare parts, tools, technological equipment of shop No. 230 D. Alentyev, fitter for instrumentation and automation of shop No. 260 A. Tokareva, leading engineer on metrology of shop No. 260 P. Sverchkov, laboratory assistant of spectral analysis of laboratory No. 1 of shop No. 430 V. Tishurina, engineer of the 1st category of physical laboratory No. 1 of shop No. 430 E. Seregina, laboratory technician on physical and mechanical tests of laboratory No. 3 of workshop No. 430 T. Khamenok, a metal surface blemish processor of workshop No. 510 V. Apoytsev, a quality engineer of workshop No. 510 L. Karpova, , a blacksmith on hammers and presses at Shop No. 510. V. Pleshakov, smelters of metal and alloys of shop No.520 O. Moroz and E. Chvanov, master of mechanical processing section of shop No.520 A. Adamov, head of planning and dispatching bureau of shop No.530 T. Shutskaya, smelter of shop No.530 A. Karputin, smelter of shop No.560 D. Lavrov, cutter on saws, hacksaws and machine tools of shop No.560 N. Litvinov, engineer of planning and organization of works of shop No.570 S. Vinogradova, blacksmith on hammers and presses of shop No.630 R. Aniskin, operator of control station of hot rolling mill of shop No.630 D. Prosnyakov, blacksmith on hammers and presses of shop No.630 V. Trunov received awards for the Day of Quality. Employees of Shop No. 500 and management departments of CMK were also awarded.

As Roman Aniskin, a blacksmith on hammers and presses of shop No. 630, notes, he always tries to perform his work qualitatively: to observe safety rules, technological modes, to perform operations on forging presses in strictly specified time intervals.

- The components of effective work are respectful relations in the team, mutual help and assistance of colleagues, punctuality in the fulfillment of labor tasks. All these are quality indicators for me, and I am very pleased that the management of the shop and the Company see and appreciate these efforts," Roman Aniskin says.

Speaking to the participants of the meeting, Olga Shchugoreva, Deputy Director for Quality, noted that today quality management is the main factor providing an advantage in the market all over the world. It has turned into a new source of national wealth growth. The contries get a more favorable position, when they are able to ensure not only the highest productivity of social labor, but also high quality, novelty and competitiveness of goods and services.

- Product quality plays a decisive role in social progress, it directly affects the quality of life of today's and future generations. It is a direct way to the security of the country, prosperity of the economy and a decent standard of living for citizens. It is impossible to develop science, technology and production without achieving the proper level of quality. There are many employees in the subdivisions who achieve the best quality indicators and today we thank them for their labor, aspiration for improvement and an important example of attitude to quality issues, - said Olga.
